Because No One Should Have to Crawl

Santa Ana Resident, Don Schoendorfer started Free Wheelchair Mission in 2001. He was motivated by a scene he saw in the late 1970s while on vacation to Morocco with his wife, Laurie. There he saw a woman, who was unable to walk, drag herself across a busy street. A trained biomechanical engineer from MIT, Don set out to solve the problem for this woman and the estimated 75 million individuals in the world that need a wheelchair but cannot afford one, by designing a cost-efficient, durable wheelchair for the developing world. To date, Free Wheelchair Mission has distributed more than one million wheelchairs to individuals in need in 93 countries around the world, providing renewed dignity, independence, and hope through the gift of mobility, at no cost to the recipient.  Free Wheelchair Mission is currently on a mission to lift another million individuals into a new life through the gift of a wheelchair by 2025. Join them by running for mobility. To provide the transforming gift of mobility to people with disabilities living in developing nations as motivated by Jesus Christ.
